Marini Pietrantoni Muñiz LLC recently concluded its 2026 Summer Associate Program, marking the end of a summer filled with meaningful work, professional development, and opportunities to experience the legal profession beyond the office.

This year, MPM welcomed summer associates Andrés Rachid and Ignacio Donéstevez, who worked alongside the firm’s attorneys while participating in a program designed to provide firsthand exposure to different areas of legal practice and the broader legal community.

The summer began with a Welcome Cocktail, giving Andrés and Ignacio an opportunity to connect with MPM attorneys and team members. Throughout the program, they also participated in internal seminars led by MPM attorneys, including a seminar focused on legal drafting.

Their experience extended into Puerto Rico’s courts. Andrés and Ignacio visited the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, where they heard from the Honorable Gustavo A. Gelpí of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the Honorable Jay A. García-Gregory of the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. The conversation offered insight into their professional careers, appellate practice, and opportunities within the federal judiciary.

Accompanied by MPM Associate Alejandro Vidal, the summer associates also visited the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico, where the Honorable María de los Ángeles González discussed the work of the Bankruptcy Court and shared her perspective on federal practice.

Another visit took them to the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico, where they were hosted by the Honorable Ángel Colón-Pérez and Clerk of the Court Javier O. Sepúlveda Rodríguez. The program also included a Puerto Rico Court of Appeals Moot Court, giving the summer associates another opportunity to develop their legal skills through practical experience.

Professional development was complemented by opportunities to spend time with the MPM team outside the traditional office setting. One of the summer’s activities was a guided wine tasting led by MPM Managing Member Carolina Velaz-Rivero, where participants explored red wines from ten regions while learning about different winemaking traditions and techniques.

On August 13, MPM gathered to mark the conclusion of the program and recognize Andrés and Ignacio for their dedication and contributions throughout the summer. The event also provided an opportunity to thank the attorneys who invested their time and expertise in the next generation of legal talent.

Events and experiences throughout the summer reflect what is at the heart of MPM’s Summer Associate Program: building a firm where learning, connection, and excellence go hand in hand.
